Every year, almost 25,000 teens give birth in California – and 70 percent of teen moms don’t graduate high school. Understandable – caring for a baby is demanding and there’s no time to sit in a classroom for eight hours a day.
Thanks to a new program at Learn4Life, teen parents can bring their babies to school. Learn4Life created H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Parenting-teens Excel) to provide mentorship and support to high school students who are teen parents.
Apart from receiving academic support, young mothers learn life skills, child development, health, food and nutrition, and financial planning.
Through local partnerships, Learn4Life connects HOPE students with community resources such as free diapers, clothing, formula, child care and other needs.
